Richard Stallman says he does not support Creative Commons, since he disagrees with some of the licenses and talking about "Creative Commons" packs all of them together.
The GPL is not branded as a "Free Software Foundation License", though now that I am checking it, the title is actually "GNU General Public License".
The FDL is not branded as a "Free Software Foundation License" either.
In contrast, Creative Commons licenses are not branded individually. As far as they are, the brand is somewhat clumsy. "Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives" sounds like calling Coca-Cola "Sizzling Refresher Cool Drink", and abbreviating as "by-nc-nd" does not help much.
As I remarked a couple of years ago, "ANN" would be shorter and easier to say.
Getting better names for individual licenses would avoid the confusion Stallman points out. I agree with Stallman that this is a problem for Creative Commons. However, I think that problem should be easily solved.
